Dr. Catherine Schipilow (formerly Dr. Catherine Michon) obtained her Doctor of Optometry (O.D.) degree from the University of Montreal in 2009. After graduation, she completed a clinical internship in Portsmouth, Virginia, at the reputable Dr. Cornetta and Associates Clinic. While in Portsmouth, Dr. Schipilow trained in the provision of comprehensive eye care, management and treatment of ocular pathologies with an emphasis on glaucoma, age-related macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy and perioperative care for cataract surgery and laser vision correction. Dr. Schipilow has an accreditation in therapeutic pharmaceutical prescribing.
Dr. Schipilow is passionate about eye health and disease prevention. She has worked in multiple clinical settings with a great variety of populations. She believes in giving her patients the utmost care and attention, ensuring that every concern is heard and addressed with empathy. With her experience, continuous updating, and education, Dr. Schipilow brings a wealth of knowledge and professionalism to Philemon maison d'optique.
Originally from the National Capital Region, Dr. Schipilow has spent part of her career in Montreal. She is pleased to return and continue her career in her hometown. She provides care in both English and French.
Dr. Schipilow is an active member of the Canadian Association of Optometrists and the Ottawa Society of Optometrists. She has volunteered at the Canadian National Institute for the Blind and the Saint-Vincent Hospital.
When not in the clinic, Dr. Schipilow stays active by playing basketball or cycling. She also enjoys watching movies and heading out for a weekend of camping.
