Dry eye starter kit (Omega 3 liquid)

This starter kit contains all the essentials for a mild dry eye treatment:

• The hot compress mask Eyeleve de Bruder
• Liquid omega-3s PRN
• Artificial tears Hyabak

If you experience watery eyes, fluctuating vision, burning, foreign body sensation or even fatigue, you may have dry eye.

The Eyeleve hot compress mask is used to soften the secretions that obstruct the Meibomian glands and then expel them through massage. Emptying these glands regularly preserves their function of producing the oily layer of tears essential for a healthy tear film and clear vision. In the long term, this treatment prevents atrophy (shortening, change in shape and disappearance) of the Meibomian glands. It can be used 1 to 3 times a day and is most effective if used several days in a row (at least one week).

• The Eyeleve mask is particularly effective because it is made of ceramic beads that have the advantage of producing a moist heat of controlled intensity and that do not absorb ambient pollutants. The fabric of the mask contains aluminum which limits the proliferation of bacteria.
• Instructions: put mask in the microwave for 20 seconds at HIGH power, apply on the eyes for 10 minutes then massage from the lower eyelids upwards (towards the eye) and from the upper eyelids downwards 3 times per eyelid.
• The mask is washable with a mild soap when completely cooled and must dry 24 hours before being reused.

The liquid Omega-3 PRN serves to reduce the inflammation present on the edge of the eyelids which is partly responsible for the obstruction of the glands of Meibomius.

• Omega-3 PRN are easily assimilated because they are made up of triglycerides. They contain 1680 mg of EPA and 560 mg of DHA per teaspoon (5 mL), which means that one teaspoon per day is sufficient for dry eye treatment.
• One bottle contains 200 mL, so 50 days (almost 2 months) of treatment
• Omega-3s are used daily in the treatment of dry eyes on a long-term basis

See your pharmacist before taking Omega-3 if you are taking Aspirin or other blood thinning medication.

Hyabak artificial tears are used to lubricate the ocular surface reducing the discomfort of dry eyes.

• Hyabak artificial tears contain 0.15% sodium hyaluronate and are preservative free.
• Patented bottle mechanism allows for use up to 3 months after opening
• The bottle is easy to handle even with reduced grip strength (e.g. arthritis) and the bottle's spout helps to orientate the bottle to administer the drop.

Conditions where these treatments are effective: dry eyes, blepharitis, meibomian gland congestion, chalazion, styes or eyelid cysts.
